Universal Studios Fire Destroys Sound Stage

Today at Universal Studios there was a fire that destroyed five buildings and a soundstage. Also the fire forced the theme park to delay its opening. Overall there were no injuries.
According to the Local Fire Inspector Frank Garrido, the fire started on the back lot of the park and CityWalk area. There were about 300 firefighters and helicopters were covering the buildings with water trying to distinguish the fire.

“What’s burning right now and what has been burning for a little more than an hour is the King Kong stage,” Universal Studios spokesman Eliot Sekuler said.

The fire started around 4:45 a.m. and damaged more than 40,000 videos and reels, not the worry there are duplicates in a different location. At the studios scenes from several blockbusters have been shot including “War of the Worlds,” “When Harry met Sally” and “Scrubs.
